Be Where Others Are Not

The three most common life problems are:

1. Procrastination

2. Last-Minute-Haste (Procrastination resultant)

3. Being late (Procrastination resultant)

Interesting thing is:

Every time we complete the important task close to the deadline, we discover that the task was essentially only a few hours or minutes long.

This task could have been completed long back, way before the deadline.

But we do not do what we ought to.

Why?

1. Habitual Procrastination — Inadequate exposure to the pleasurable after-experience after early completion of a task.

2. Perfectionism — Trying to be perfect with things that hardly need us to be so.

3. The Resistance — Choosing the path of least resistance

4. Assumption — That the new task will likely be difficult. Which it often is not.

5. Pre-action Fear — The fear that precedes taking any action.

What can we do about it?

1. Embrace failure

It is okay!

Nothing to fear, only to learn, everything to grow.

A child does not fear failing.

All it cares about is the goal — to stand up, on his feet.

The best part?

He stays persistent until he finds success.

[ Feminists be like, the child can be she. So be it. Read it like that, if you will. Make sure you don’t miss out on the point ;) ]

2. Take Ownership

Accept our failings and mistakes.

Take ownership of our scene.

Resolve to be better at the next attempt.

Commit to improvement, in every way.

3. Take the Path of Highest Resistance

We never enjoy a movie without an intense conflict.

We want the High Resistance and Intense Conflict, because we know there lies the inspiration.

But when it comes to putting the inspiration to use, we expect the opposite. We want things sorted and made easy for us.

We want to be great and inspirational. But, we do not want to make sacrifices, like the heroes we took inspiration from.

Weird, isn’t it?

4. Be Where Others Are Not.

When everyone is reeling under the pressures of their own procrastination, we can choose to be someplace else.

When others are busy finding the easy way out to failure, we can choose to be different.

When others are busy taking the final slice, we can choose to arrive at the scene early.

When others are asleep stomach-full, we can be awake hungry for more.

We can choose to be the early risers, by being early-dinners.

5. Do What Others ‘Would Not’.

Everyone can achieve greatness is governed by CAN.

Only a handful can achieve greatness is governed by WILL.

Where will you be?

I will be where others are not.

Always!
